Beauty-ful day!

Have you thought about your beauty regimen for your big day? You may know who will be doing your hair and makeup, but did you really think about what you want to do with your hair? What look you are going for with your makeup?

Looking into ideas and inspirations for these two things can help your hair and makeup artist tremendously in trying to create the best look for you. Give it some thought pull some pictures, and share them with your artists.

For Hairstyles, try to pull pictures of both front style and back style hair do's. Sometimes, the pictures you find for inspiration only show one side. And try different things. You may think you want a pulled back look with pinned curls, but you and your dress might look better with a softer look or hair half down! If you can do a trial run, even better.

If makeup is not your specialty (ex: myself), def seek an opinion of an expert...even if you are not hiring a makeup artist. A lot of you may be really good at applying makeup to yourself for work or going out, but for a wedding, it is a whole other ball game. You need stuff that will last, the whole day, something that will withstand tears, heat, cold, sweat, and lots of photo taking. Unless you apply the right amount and right colors, your makeup can get washed out in photos, so if you decide to do makeup yourself, at least consult someone at a makeup counter, or a professional makeup artist. Talk to them about what look you are going for, natural and glowy, sultry, dramatic, cool and crisp? tell them what you are comfortable with and what you would like to try differently.

But not all aspects of wedding Beauty fall into the hands of the stylists. You need to do your part too in order to make sure you are feeling rested and fresh! Here is a list of beauty preparation instructions from Judith Koppelman, makeup artist to the stars. Found the article on Project wedding and it also list some beauty item must haves.

Naturally, on your wedding day, you want to look and feel your very best ...
1. Get plenty of sleep, please!

2. Don't try anything new on your skin 7-10 days before your wedding. You don't know how your skin will react.

3. Well-shaped brows can open up your whole face, get them done ten days before the wedding, then two days before get them touched up or pluck the few strays yourself.

4. One reason to hire a makeup artist and a hair stylist: they will come armed with all the necessary tools to make you look your best. Being pampered by pros also allows you to relax on your most important day.

5. Have a trial run with your makeup artist if you are using one, as well as your hairdresser. Feel free to express yourself when something does not feel right for you, this is what the trial is for.

6. One week before and the day of -- limit your salt and alcohol intake, which can lead to puffiness. Drink plenty of water, which will flush out toxins and can help prevent dehydration headaches.

7. Freeze moistened green or white tea bags to put over your eyes. The ingredients in them help reduce puffiness.

8. While getting your hair or makeup done, taking the time to put your feet up, relax a little and drink your water.

Finally, it never hurts to just lie down and take a rest -- your eyes will reflect your refreshed energy and spirit. The better care you take of them, the brighter they'll sparkle!

Sorry for the bit of a dry spell here on the blog. It has been super busy with PPW as well as my own wedding planning. We have officially crossed over the one month mark!! Can you believe it?! The RSVPs are coming back daily and we are continuing with the little things like finishing up small diy projects (to come soon) as well as starting to pick up all the small decorating details like containers for programs, wish tree cards, table number frames etc.

Today's post has lots and lots of color!! I was pa rousing through the Simply Smashing Blog and saw all these wonderfully simple...and yes...smashing color boards and inspiration! I had to share them.

Meet Ashley...the Author of Simply Smashing. A very creative stationery designer who fills her blog with lovely creations, inspirations, typography and color!! Here are the lovely color inspirations/boards I found on her blog. I love each and every one of them!! I hope some of you can use these for your wedding since mine is already set. I will live vicariously through you!

Story book invite

You have to take a look at these invites!! The author of Head vs. Heart is getting married and these are her and her fiance's invites. They fashioned it after a storybook that they both designed to tell everyone of "their" story. The colors are so fun and vibrant and yet, the playfulness also exudes a modern and classy flair to it.

I also love the pink script for the addresses on the envelopes!!! It is def a complex invite package...with every bit of detail thought of...all the way down to the little emblem inside the striped flap of the envelope. Happy Friday everyone!! Man was it a busy week for PPW!! But that's a good thing!...cant wait for some of the upcoming meetings with fellow brides.

To celebrate the end of the week and all the wedding talk I've been doing, I thought that I would share with all of you my inspiration board for our upcoming wedding. we have a romantic Spanish theme with a little glitz. Our color palate:

encompasses a lot of the purple/pink family, ranging from eggplant to berry, to a deep wine color. We chose a bunch of deep colors to give it a sultry yet vibrant feel, which was inspired by "flamenco."

There will also be silver and crystals to add a little shine, as well as small pops of chartreuse to add a summery effect. the chartreuse will be seen in the florals and greenery of the venue as well as in the girls' bouquets. After the church ceremony, we are having the reception in a Spanish style villa in La Jolla which was inspired by Seville, Spain. With it being summertime in SD, It will be held outdoors in their rose garden with multiple patios being used for the food and dancing sections. We have decided to not do too much with the inside of the house because it is already very pretty and we dont want to take away from it and it helps out the budget ;-)

Trend: Chalk it up

Chalkboards are making its break into the wedding scene, adding a touch of nostalgia in all the right places. They can match just about any theme. Above youcan see how they are being creatively used: from place cards, to table numbers, to favors, to photbooth signs. They are everywhere. You can also make a lot of diy projects incorporating chalkboards. You can buy chalkboard paint at your local hardware store and used it to make a chalkboard surface out of just about anything.

We are using a vintage framed chalkboard for our wedding as photobooth signage for people to hold up. Are you incorporating chalkboards into your wedding? if so how?

Needing some inspiration for your color palate? Not sure to go with the purple or the brown or aqua?....well, how about white!? yup just white?
