Pretty in Pink Wedding! {Reminiscing}

Before we began Lambs & Kings, we coordinated wedding events for lovely couples with lovely weddings. Last year, we had the pleasure of coordinating a drop dead gorgeous wedding in Aptos, Ca at the the Pacific Estate and Vineyard. It was a  cute country chic estate that had a small vineyard and a large lawn and patio that overlooked the Santa Cruz mountain scenery. It was a perfect setting for vintage inspired chic wedding which is exactly what our clients were dreaming of. My bride is super creative and dreamt up the whole event and knew exactly what she wanted from the shades of pink, to the collected vintage glass, vintage typewriter guestbook, and tons of crafty projects! Everything was meticulously thought out.

We were so giddy to find out that this wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty yesterday!! Its not a surprise as the event was so beautiful and photog Stephan Pappas did a superb job capturing it and Nicole Ha created a beautiful feel with her stunning florals. The entire team was great. This is just a small peek. Give them some love on the SMP site! Seeing these images reminds me how much fun we had doing weddings and working with all our awesome clients and vendors...seriously, all of them are awesome. We definitely do miss it. However, since we are super busy with the business re branding process, and the possibility of going back to school and/or starting a family, we had to put it on hold this year. We are planning to start styling events and doing prop design soon with the focus more on intimate events such as smaller/intimate weddings (such as this one), parties and showers and photo shoots. Stay tuned!

Flower Feature: Anemones

Today I want to put the spotlight on special little flower that packs a big punch when included in floral decor. Anemones...

These flowers are so mysterious and dramatic. Delicate & dark at the same time.

I especially love how they add classiness to a very sophisticated black and white wedding palette.

Dont you just love the monochromatic look of an "all anemone" bouquet?

These lovelies are popular for adorning cakes for yet again, a simplistic and sophisticated look.

I love the slight tinge of powder pink in these pictured below and how they can also dress up and compliment a vintage rustic look.

A 1920's wedding: Joann+Jon

Todays wedding is from the talented photog duo of Paco & Betty . They Shot the wedding of Joann and John, which was dripping with 1920's dreaminess...and their photography skills definitely added to the effect. With Nestledown, in the Santa Cruz Mtns set as the backdrop to their nuptials, Joann and Jon said "i do" amongst family, friends, towering trees, and an amazing amount of well thought out detail that just made for a perfect event.

Seriously, what is not to love about their wedding?! The fashion was impeccable and I especially love the newspaper boys handing out their newspaper programs (How Genius...and fitting). Her Monique Lhuillier dress is totally gorgeous and fits her an their event to a T.

All their details are so effortlessly amazing, from their vintage antique vignettes, to wooden menu boards, carved wood centerpiece holders, succulents, perfectly executed dessert table, and super cute table numbers.

Today's post is in celebration of the birth of my new nephew...Samuel! My wonderful Cousin Liana and her husband GP welcomed in the cute baby boy earlier this afternoon.

I know baby Samuel is too young to be in any weddings any time soon but it made me think of all the cute little ones that grace our weddings.

They add such character, vibrancy, and youth to a wedding. They also serve as another way to add in personal touches to your day. Be creative with how you want your children attendant to be dressed. Let them wear their cute kiddy shoes and sneakers with their tux or paper crowns on their heads

I love bold headbands, or flowers in the hair and different takes on the ring bearer pillow and flower basket. Try incorporating your theme by using something untraditional like ribbon wands or a banner/sign,

You don't have to go with a typical dress and mini tux. I've been seeing a lot of tu-tu's, fairy outfits, suspenders, newsboy hats. Make it fun for them!!

My favorites are the awesome photos that come out of having kids at your wedding. They are all out there so you get some great faces and great emotion.

Cute Find: Ticings Cake decor

Planning for an upcoming party soon and stumbled upon this company called "ticings" which makes "edible icing appliqués" to spruce up your cakes or cupcakes. Their designs would definitely bring a fun flare to diy cupcakes for a wedding or any party!!

What are "Ticings"?
"ticings™ are thin sheets of edible icing printed with contemporary designs using food-grade inks.made in the u.s.a., gluten-free, FDA approved and kosher certified, ticings are best applied to fresh buttercreamfrosting. just peel and pressto give your cakes and frosteddesserts modern decorations in minutes!"

They have a few different types of designs for kids, parties, weddings...but you can design your own to match anything. I am thinking of using this for the cupcakes we are planning on making for my Grandma's surprise shindig (a big reason I've been away from the blog world for a while when you combine that with weddings and consults).

Anyways, here are some really cute design and ideas from their page as well as a simple how to.




"it’s as simple as one, two, three."
1. frost. prepare your baked surface with a soft frosting (buttercream works best, but any soft frosting will work). make sure the finished surface is smooth and flat.
2. peel. with dry hands, gently peel ticings from the backing sheet and center on top of the frosted surface.
3. press. gently pat into place, smoothing the edges to remove any air bubbles or unevenness from the frosting underneath. add sprinkles, sanding sugar or frosting decorations around the edges to finish, or use alone for a quick and elegant decoration.

Sugar & Spice Bridal Shower

Stumbled upon this gorgeous bridal shower party with a "Sweet & Spicy" Theme and an "oh so chic" presentation.

I love this theme...because you can give it many looks and totally have fun with it.

I did a mini inspiration board for a friend a while back who was thinking of throwing a "sugar & spice" shower...same idea...but she wanted to go with the more burlesque bold look so this is what I came up with. Its a very versatile theme =) . This one has the "sweet" with the pink, the graceful roses, the candy, sweet treats, and other playful details. The spicy comes into play with the black other dark and sexy colors, sexy heels, the lingerie...it would be cool to make the bridal gift theme "lingerie" to add more spice to the party.

What we love: right now!

1. Not your "run of the mill" bouquets

bouquets that actually make you stop and say "Wow" that is different and so beautiful. I love it when they totally match the theme and feel of the wedding...not just in color of the flowers but also in the type of flowers. This one pictured above is so unique to me. I don't even think I can name a single flower in that bouquet (that just might be my lack of knowledge in flower names =/ ). With the colors you can think of other typical flowers that she could have used...but didn't....and it made for an awesome bouquet.

2. Neat Treats & eats for your guests.

As a wedding guest....I love when the couples offer awesome treats and eats for the guest. Its a detail that will definitely go a long way with your guests....especially when you put thought into the presentation as well. For example you all have prob been to a wedding with a candy bar...love those! there are also dessert bars, cookie decorating station. You can think of a way to incorporate your favorite, food, treat or drink. For example pictured above is a tea selection with a personal touch of diy tags to denote each different tea flavor. You can also go with "unique" with your cake!! I really want to try that blue velvet..mmm...but really, try different flavors especially if you have a multi tiered cake. Another favorite trend I am seeing are mini treats/appetizers that take it back to basics, back to foods you remember as a kid. For example, mini cups of mac n' cheese or who doesn't like tomato soup and grilled cheese...but with a chic twist "tomato soup shots"...for dessert you can do cookie and milk shots. if you please the tummy, you will please your guests =)

3. Linens with a statement

If you want to add an automatic shot of style or personality to your wedding decor...one can never go wrong with printed linens....whether you use them in your napkins or tablecloths. no matter the budget, they always make a statement. You need to choose wisely though because depending on your existing decor (i.e. florals, or the venue setup), it might be overwhelming...so think about it first, and it might just be more $$. For example, if you have a decked out ballroom with elaborate walls, chandeliers and tall centerpieces...do you want paisley printed colored table cloths? maybe or maybe not...but do you need them? Do you want to spend the extra money for the specialty linens? or does the room already speak for itself? Pictured above are wonderful examples of the use of bold printed linens that bring together the whole feel of the environment....I especially love those striped table cloths....they are so dramatic!! and each unique printed napkin on the second example brings a pulled together playfullness that adds the right amount of color and spark to the table.

4. Wedding Ring Bowls

A really cute alternative to a ring bearer pillow. These cute little keepsakes are popping up all over etsy. You can tie your rings to them and have the ring bearers carry them in their palms down the aisle. And after the wedding, it makes for a very sentimental keepsake in the home. Most sellers will allow you to custom design the wording on the dish and put your date.
